“For my patients, combining expertise with empathy can guide them towards holistic well-being and renewed hope.”

I am an adult psychiatrist with expertise in intellectual disability, young adults, and those with eating disorders. I have worked with this vulnerable population about their mental health challenges and behavioural issues for more than three decades. I take pride in providing care for this often under-serviced area of psychiatry.

My experience is enriched by a career extended through Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, Bermuda, and Australia which expanded over 45 years. I am privileged to serve individuals from all walks of life. One of my career highlights is starting the first dedicated school for intellectually disabled students in Central Sri Lanka. Since January 2008, I have worked as a Senior Staff Specialist in Canberra Health Service in many settings, including inpatient and outpatient care, with a wide variety of patients with psychiatric disorders. I received the 2023 Meritorious Service Award as a recognition of ‘outstanding contribution to the Canberra Mental Health Service’ from the ACT Branch of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

In 2014, I started my practice at Mind Connections Specialist Health Services, Carlingford and Norwest. I see patients from various backgrounds.
