Who is Eligible for Bulk-Billed Telehealth Psychiatry Services?
Bulk-billed telehealth psychiatry services are available to individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Residential Aged Care Facilities: Anywhere in Australia.
- Patients of Aboriginal Medical Services: Anywhere in Australia.
- Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services: Anywhere in Australia.
- Regional and Rural Patients: Located in MM 2 – MM 7 areas. (please refer to the government website: https://www.health.gov.au/health-topics/rural-health-workforce/classifications/mmm and check your address).
How to Access Bulk-Billed Telehealth Psychiatry Services?
- Check for the Eligibility Criteria above.
- Obtain a Valid Referral from your GP or Nurse Practitioner.
- Check the validity of your Medicare Card. Patients must have a valid Medicare Card.
What are the conditions of booking?
Specialists and psychologists at Mind Connections Specialist Health Services have extensive clinical experience with rural and residential aged-care patients. They understand the crucial role that family, carers, and local service providers, such as NGOs, NDIS, GPs, Nurse Practitioners, and family members, play in a patient’s well-being. Most of these patients are disadvantaged due to impaired cognition and/or co-morbid conditions. Often, they cannot provide a detailed history and need support from their support network.
Psychiatrists collaborate closely with rural and remote GPs, Nurse practitioners and allied health. They take pride in providing vital support and expertise via video telehealth links. Carer consultation is integral to the bulk-billed Telehealth Consultation for patients.
- Booking an appointment is straightforward and convenient. Patients can book online, and a booking fee of $100 will apply. This fee is enforced to avoid “no-shows” and cancellations without notice. When you attend the session, $100/- will be reimbursed. If you have follow-up sessions, you may leave it as the deposit for the next appointment.

Our telehealth consultations offer a flexible and efficient way to connect with specialists, ensuring that you receive the care you need wherever you are.
Eligibility for Medicare Rebates
If you’re a resident of metropolitan Australia, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for your telehealth consultations. To qualify, ensure you meet the following criteria:
- Valid Referral: Obtain a referral from your GP or Nurse Practitioner.
- Medicare Card: have a valid Medicare Card.
- Residency: You must reside in Australia during consultation to be eligible for Medicare rebates.
International Appointments
- Patients from overseas can book appointments with the specialists of their choice. Access to specialists is straightforward. Appointments can be booked and paid for online. There are no Medicare rebates for these appointments, and fees must be paid in full at the time of booking.
Please consider the time differences between Australia and your country of residence. Appointments can be scheduled between 9 AM and 5 PM Australia time only.
Fees and Payment
For telehealth consultations, standard fees applicable for face-to-face appointments will apply. Our online booking system requires a $100 deposit to secure your appointment, which will be refunded when you attend your first appointment.
